Angela Provart
Angela Provart is president and chief executive officer of Pauly Group, Inc. She holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Communication from University of Illinois; Bachelors of Arts in Communication and Psychology from McKendree University, and has been with the company since 1996. Her Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from University of Chicago will be completed in January, 2020.
Since 2010, she has served as an active member the Board of American Association of Women in Community Colleges. She received the Carolyn Desjardins CEO of the Year Award in 2015.
Ms. Provart also maintains a highly active, national presence as a speaker and panelist. She participates in candidate training sessions and workshops for various organizations at annual conventions and regional conferences. The organizations include the Asilomar (California) Women’s Leadership Conference, Leaders, American Association of Women in Community Colleges, American Council on Education, the Midwestern Women’s Leadership Conferences, and the Lakin Institute. Locally, in Springfield, Illinois, she is an active volunteer with a homeless shelter, Helping Hands, a Committee Chair for the Parent-Teacher Organization, and a participant on the Patient Advisory Board for Springfield Clinic.
Dr. Ramycia McGhee
Dr. Ramycia McGhee was born and raised on the westside of Chicago. She received her. B.A. from the University Wisconsin-Whitewater in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Race and Ethnic Cultures. During her undergraduate career she was a McNair Scholar, which afforded her the opportunity to conduct undergraduate research throughout the state, country, and internationally.
She then earned her M.S. in Journalism from Roosevelt University in Chicago IL. During her master’s program, she interned at WBBM News Radio while publishing stories for Tribune Local.
Lastly, she received her Ed.D in Education Leadership Management from Capella University, in which her dissertation was entitled “Improving the Instructional Skills of Adjunct Faculty Through Professional Development: An Action Research Study.”
She is also an alum of Public Allies Chicago an Americorps Program.
Before coming to Linn-Benton Community College in 2017, she worked as an adjunct English Professor at the City Colleges of Chicago, a writing consultant at Truman College, in addition to serving as the Tutoring Center Coordinator for ESL/ELL students at Truman College.
Since being at LBCC, she has inaugurated the Black History Essay Contest, implemented a film series for Women’s History Month, instituted a Breast Cancer Awareness Month program, serves on the Free Expressions Team and has served as an advisor for Student Rights, Responsibilities & Conduct Code. Also, she has served on the planning committee and participated in the Race in America series: The Black Women, for Oregon State University’s Black Cultural Center. In addition, she was a speaker at Oregon State University’s Dr. Martin Luther King’s Peace Rally 2019. She has also guest lectured at Oregon State University for The Black Effect course. Moreover, Dr. McGhee was this year’s Keynote Speaker for the AAWCC Linn Benton local chapter Annual Working Women’s Tea Lastly, she was selected as a Random Reviewer for the Corvallis Benton County Public Library. Finally, Dr. McGhee was a featured presenter at the Oregon Institute for Leadership Development 2019.
Dr. McGhee is a 2019 recipient of the Oregon State University’s Community Member Black Excellence Award.
Dr. McGhee is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. which is the first Black Greek Sorority founded in 1908 and is married to her loving husband John. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, writing, shopping, and spending time with her friends, family, and her dog Cupcake. Outside of being a writing and literature professor, Dr. McGhee is a freelance make-up artist and an African American Barbie collector!
Carmen Poston Travis
Carmen Poston Travis is the Executive Director of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, serving on the national board. She is also the Director of Student Affairs and Initiatives at Montgomery College. She has 25 years of experience in educational and vocational administration, including K-12, vocational rehabilitation, and higher education.
She is also a member of NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. She holds a bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration and a dual master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration. She is pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Management.
However, what she is most “Hyped” about is her work Supporting, Uplifting, Celebrating, Encouraging, and Serving, the community, particularly students and women. Nothing is more rewarding and fulfilling than service to people.
One of her most prized accomplishment is the establishment of the Montgomery College’s Student Health and Wellness Center for Success. This work focuses on Health & Safety Education; Mental Health; Health, Human Services & Nutrition; and Physical Health. According to Carmen, food insecurity and mental health conditions are common phenomenons and we should not lose sight of the issues.
Besides serving, she loves traveling and enjoys singing. She believes you should do what you enjoy doing as well.
